Atita Solidarity Service/programs

Atita is a grass roots non-governmental or non-profit organization that was founded to involve the community in addressing the problems faced by different categories of human persons in our immediate vicinity or distant. The organization is located in Western Equatorial State with its pilot center at Andari in Ezo County.

Approximately 1,000 volunteers (working either at the grass roots level or at the management level) supported by a team of (2)5 staff members implement educational programs as its main apostolate with several concrete Alternative projects:

	Peace-building and conflict prevention (PCP): this programme aims to empower the community to reduce incidences of violence and address human rights issues.
	Promotion of basic education and saving children
	Advocacy, done through training, counselling and a legal help-desk “Azaro” which reaches several stations, which are run by paralegal volunteers.

	We organize contacts, meetings and relationship to promote and create life-enhancing alternatives to war, threats of war and conditions that lead to violent conflict.

	HIV/AIDS, Alcohol and related drug Abuse: this program aims at building the capacity of volunteers in the community that can manage HIV/AIDS and improve the socio-economic status of those infected and affected in the target circa. This is alone though sensitization, counselling, home based care and assistance to orphans.

	Women empowerment force which involve adult education in several skills and endeavour for establishing Savings and Micro-Credit: this programme aims at economically empowering beneficiaries (we use beneficiaries to refer to vulnerable people we work with this not a term use like, because we consider ourselves beneficiaries of the organisation as well. At is only that we have not been able to came up with a better terms) of after Atita programs by providing savings and credit facilities.
